How to earn XP

Earn 10 XP for completing a round, plus 100 XP for a correct prediction. Consecutive correct calls earn a bonus: +10 XP for the second, +20 for the third, up to +50 per round. A wrong call resets your current streak. Skipping a chart does not earn XP. Levels and badges are game milestones, not a measure of trading ability.

Calculated from daily closes, with up to 250 earlier sessions for initialization. Bollinger Bands use a simple average and population standard deviation; RSI uses Wilder smoothing. The 40/80-candle view changes the display, not the calculations. Future indicator values appear only after you answer.

How the challenge works

Each round selects a random eligible historical window from the site’s daily price files. You see 80 sessions and predict the closing-price change after 5, 10, or 20 more sessions. Stock identity and dates stay hidden in mystery mode until you answer. This preview samples a small selection of stocks; it is not representative of the whole market.

The outcome uses the final close, not the highest or lowest price during the period. Prices follow the source files; adjustment for splits and dividends is not independently checked. A correct guess is not a profitable trading strategy: this game does not model entries, costs, risk, or execution. Your record stays in this browser and may be cleared by browser settings. Historical outcomes do not predict future performance.

Practice reading stock charts without seeing the future

Study the visible daily candles, choose a forecast horizon, and call up, sideways or down before revealing the next sessions. Try stating one reason for your choice: trend, a nearby price level, or a change in momentum. Add indicator overlays when they help test that reason.

A repeatable practice routine

Describe the chart before answering, make your call, then compare the revealed result with what you expected. A correct prediction is one observation; it does not establish a profitable trading strategy. This direction game does not substitute for testing entries, exits, costs and position size.
