These Terms of Service govern your use of CandleChasers.com, including our stock strategy builder, historical backtests, public results pages, downloadable trade files, and educational content. “CandleChasers,” “we,” and “our” refer to the operator of this website. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Educational tools and investment risk
CandleChasers provides information and research tools for educational purposes. Our content, charts, strategy explanations, and results are not personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold a security. Using the site does not create an advisory or fiduciary relationship.
Trading and investing involve risk, including loss of capital. You are responsible for assessing suitability and making your own decisions. Consider advice from a qualified professional who understands your circumstances. The tester does not place orders, hold funds, or connect to your brokerage account.
2. Backtests are hypothetical
Backtests simulate rules against historical daily price data. They are not records of actual trading and do not guarantee future performance. A favorable result does not establish that a strategy is suitable, profitable in live markets, or robust across other stocks or periods.
Results depend on available data, selected dates, starting capital, rules, costs, and execution assumptions. Review the rules and assumptions on the result page. Daily bars cannot resolve every intraday price sequence. Simulated fills, stops, and trailing stops can differ materially from live execution; price gaps can produce losses beyond a stop setting.
The engine uses simplified position sizing and execution. Unless stated otherwise, results exclude taxes, dividends, and interest on cash. Short simulations omit borrowing costs and availability and do not fully model margin requirements. Data can contain omissions or errors, and repeated testing or selecting a favorable period can lead to overfitting.
Historical data, calculation methods, and supported features may change. Saved reports reflect the inputs and calculation used when they were created and may differ from a later test. Report summaries are explanatory, not an independent audit or endorsement.
3. Review your rules before testing
You are responsible for selecting supported rules, checking the strategy preview, and confirming the settings before running a backtest. Hypothetical starting capital is a calculation input, not a deposit or a representation of your actual assets. The current public form uses a structured builder; it does not promise to understand or test arbitrary strategies.
4. Public strategy reports and submissions
A confirmed backtest can create or reuse a public results page. Its symbol, strategy rules, test settings, hypothetical starting capital, trades, charts, and results may be viewed, shared, downloaded, or discovered through search engines. An unlisted or non-indexed page is not necessarily private. Do not submit confidential, proprietary, or personal information.
You retain any rights you have in your submissions. By submitting a strategy for a public test, you grant CandleChasers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, reproduce, format, and display the submitted rules and associated results to operate the site. Published reports may remain available until removed. This permission does not give us ownership of your pre-existing intellectual property.
Submit only material you have the right to use. We may correct, restrict, or remove reports or submissions that are inaccurate, abusive, unlawful, infringing, or disruptive. To request a correction or removal, contact us with the relevant URL and reason. Removal from our site does not automatically remove third-party copies or search caches.
5. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the site. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must supervise your use. Where an account is used, provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and report suspected unauthorized access. Public backtesting does not require access to a financial account.
6. Acceptable use
Use the site lawfully. Do not upload malicious code, attempt unauthorized access, impersonate others, infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, interfere with the service, or evade usage limits. Automated activity must not overload the site or bypass access controls. We may apply rate limits, suspend abusive access, or remove offending content to protect the service.
7. Site content and downloads
The site’s software, branding, and original content belong to CandleChasers or their respective rights holders. You may share links to public reports and use available trade CSV downloads for your own research. These Terms do not grant unrestricted redistribution rights to underlying market data or permission to reproduce the site’s software, branding, or substantial content. Do not present simulated results as actual investment performance.
8. Privacy and third-party services
Our Privacy Policy explains information handling, cookies, measurement tools, and public reports. Third-party websites and services have their own terms and policies. A link does not mean that we endorse their products or guarantee their content.
9. Availability and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update, limit, or discontinue features.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CandleChasers is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, trading losses, lost data, or business interruption arising from use of or reliance on the site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.
10. Changes and contact
We may revise these Terms as the service changes and will update the effective date on this page. Material changes will receive any additional notice required by applicable law. Continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
