The Daily 20 SMA as Intraday Context: Base Breakouts and Failed Breakdowns
Use a larger-timeframe average as a decision area, then require an explicit smaller-timeframe pattern. Keep the daily data timing, local invalidation, and available reward separate.

Higher-Low Confirmation: Adapting to a Changing Market Cycle
Combine a supported structural hypothesis with good location and a timely response. A completed projection, a revised channel, and a new confirmed entry are related observations, not interchangeable trading instructions.

Finding a Day-Two Momentum Setup: Range, Confirmation, and the First Retest
Use the prior move to select candidates, current price action to confirm interest, and actual entry economics to decide whether the remaining room is worth the risk.

How Price Approaches Support: Power Bars, Narrow Averages, and Probability
Judge the approach to a level as well as the level itself. Keep entry timing and total position risk explicit, and test the power-bar hypothesis without importing the source's unverified probability claims.

Scalping With Structure: Breakouts, Retests, and Candle Confirmation
Make structure choose the location, let confirmation choose the timing, and let actual execution determine the risk. The next useful test is whether a defined rejection candle adds value to the same set of retest opportunities.

Adapting to a Market Shift: Breakouts, Retests, and Execution Discipline
Adapt through recorded observations and controlled comparisons. A clean breakout-retest, realistic execution, and a disciplined exit are more useful than an explanation that changes with every headline.

Room to the Target: How a Scalper Revises a Market-Structure Read
A useful scalping read combines a current structural hypothesis, a trigger that actually activates, and enough room to an already known objective. Test whether a stricter room requirement improves selection after accounting for missed fills.

Reading Volume at a Breakout: Entry Confirmation Versus Late Exhaustion
Use volume to sharpen an already defined price decision. Separate participation at the entry from activity after extension, and test each interpretation without changing several rules at once.

When a Downtrend Has Played Out: Channel Completion and the Decision to Wait
Judge whether the structure still offers opportunity before judging the next signal bar. A completed move, an unconfirmed wider channel, and a valid continuation setup are three different states.

Some guides cover intraday or options setups. Our strategy builder tests supported daily stock rules.
Before you test a trading idea
Where should I start if I’m new to trading?
Start with the price action guide to learn the vocabulary of trends, levels, and confirmation. Write down the entry, exit, and risk rules of an idea before you test it. Use hypothetical capital while you learn.
Can I test every strategy in these guides on CandleChasers?
No. The builder supports daily stock strategies using its available indicators, comparisons, and exits. Intraday and options strategies require other data and tools. A Pine Script research baseline is an example to investigate, not proof that it exactly reproduces a source strategy.
What should I look at beyond total return?
Examine drawdown, losing streaks, the number of trades, trading costs, and the period tested. Compare different market conditions and read the execution assumptions. Choosing the best result after many variations can make a strategy appear stronger than it is.
Are my backtests private?
Confirmed tests can create public reports showing the strategy rules, settings, and hypothetical results. Do not include confidential information. Read our Privacy Policy before submitting a test.
