This Privacy Policy explains how CandleChasers handles information when you use CandleChasers.com, build and run a stock strategy backtest, view public reports, use an account, or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, use our Contact Us form.
1. Backtests are public research
A confirmed test can create or reuse a public strategy results page. The stock symbol, entry and exit rules, hypothetical starting capital, dates, costs, trades, charts, and performance results can be visible to other visitors. Reports can be shared, downloaded, and potentially indexed by search engines. A page marked not to be indexed can still be accessible through its URL.
Do not put personal, confidential, or proprietary information into a strategy. Starting capital is a hypothetical simulation input; you do not need to provide your actual account balance. The tester does not request brokerage credentials, connect to financial accounts, accept investment deposits, or execute trades.
The current public tester uses a structured builder. Its backtest calculations run through our site’s engine, and builder submissions are not sent to an AI interpretation service. If we introduce a feature that changes how submissions are processed, we will update this policy and provide any notice or consent required by law.
2. Information you provide
Strategy settings: We process the rules and test settings you select to show a preview, calculate a backtest, identify an existing matching report, and publish results. Saved reports contain the structured strategy and simulation results.
Contact messages: Our contact form asks for your name, email address, and message. We use this information to respond and handle support, correction, or privacy requests. Please do not send passwords, payment card details, brokerage credentials, or other sensitive information.
Accounts and other submissions: If you register or use an account, we process the account information you provide, such as your username and email address, to manage access and account communications. If you submit a comment or other content, information shown with that submission may be public. If you choose to subscribe to a mailing list, we use the details provided for that subscription; you can unsubscribe from marketing messages.
3. Technical information and abuse prevention
When you visit the site, our hosting and website systems may record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error or security events. This helps deliver pages, diagnose problems, maintain performance, and detect abuse.
The strategy tester uses a keyed hash derived from the request’s IP address for short-lived rate limiting. Its rate-limit records do not store the raw IP address, although hosting and other website logs may separately contain it. A strategy review is temporarily stored for up to 30 minutes so you can confirm the rules before running a test.
4. Cookies and Google measurement
WordPress and site features can use cookies for sign-in, session management, preferences, and security. Blocking these cookies may prevent account features from working. The strategy builder does not require you to provide a financial account.
The site includes a Google measurement tag through Google Site Kit. Google measurement tools can receive information about page views, interactions, browser or device characteristics, and online identifiers, and can use cookies or similar technologies depending on the configuration and your browser settings. We use site measurement to understand usage and improve the website.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser and use available browser privacy controls. Google explains its handling of information at Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Changing browser settings does not delete a public backtest report or information already retained by the site.
5. How information is used and shared
We use information to operate the tester, publish and display reports, manage accounts, respond to messages, improve reliability, prevent misuse, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Public strategy reports are shared with visitors as described above. Hosting, email delivery, security, and measurement providers may process information to support the site. Google processes measurement information under its own policies. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws can differ.
We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate abuse, or secure the site. Information may also be transferred as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable legal requirements.
6. Retention and security
Public backtest reports can remain available until removed; they do not automatically expire when you close the browser or delete cookies. Accounts, messages, technical logs, and related records are retained as needed for their purpose, site operation, security, dispute resolution, and applicable legal obligations. Temporary review and rate-limit records have short expiry periods. Backup copies may remain for their normal retention cycle after active records are removed.
Access controls and other website security measures help protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Treat public strategy reports as public information.
7. Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on applicable law and your circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent where processing relies on it; or complain to a relevant privacy regulator. These rights can be subject to exceptions, including legal and security requirements.
Use our Contact Us form to make a request. Describe what you need and include the relevant account email or public report URL. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify the request. Do not send identity documents or sensitive credentials unless a secure process is specifically arranged.
You may also ask us to review a public report for correction or removal. We assess requests in light of the report, the information involved, and applicable law. Removing content from our site cannot guarantee deletion of copies held by other visitors, search engines, or third parties.
8. Children and external websites
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address it. Users under 18 must use the site with a parent or guardian as described in our Terms of Service.
External links and third-party embedded content are governed by the relevant provider’s privacy practices. Clicking a social media link takes you to that platform; its policy applies there.
9. Changes and contact
We will update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required. This policy describes information handling; it does not replace any consent required by applicable law.

10. Affiliate links and Amazon
Some links to Amazon and TradingView are paid affiliate links. We may receive a commission when you make a qualifying purchase through them. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our Amazon links include an affiliate tracking identifier so Amazon can attribute qualifying purchases to CandleChasers. Following an affiliate link takes you to the third party’s website. That provider may receive referral, browser, device, and interaction information and may place or recognize cookies or use similar technologies to attribute purchases and operate its services. The provider handles that information under its own privacy policy; we do not receive your payment-card details or Amazon account credentials through these links.
You can choose not to follow affiliate links, visit a retailer directly, and manage or delete cookies in your browser. Amazon provides information about its practices and available choices in its Privacy Notice. Browser settings may limit tracking but do not erase information already collected. Where applicable law requires consent or additional privacy choices for tracking technologies used on our site, those requirements apply separately from this disclosure.
